Welcome to Sorrento Elementary, home of the Stars. We are located on the west end of Shuswap Lake on the traditional unceded lands of the Secwepemc People. Sorrento, along our catchment area of Blind Bay and Eagle Bay, is a growing community and our school is reflecting that growth. Sorrento Elementary now has 12 Divisions with 250 students in Grades K-5.
Sorrento Elementary has a strong, dedicated, and professional staff of teachers and educational assistants who strive to meet the diverse needs of all students. We provide individualized support where and when needed, because we believe “not everyone gets the same, but everyone gets what they need.” Students also receive counselling, speech language, OT/PT, and ESL supports as needed. Sorrento Elementary students also have the opportunity to engage in activities such as cross country running, track and field, snowshoeing, skiing, basketball, outdoor education, student leadership, and Indigenous Education clubs to name just a few.
We welcome the support of our community partners including a dedicated Parent Advisory Council and other local groups and businesses who often offer their services and support to ensure students at Sorrento Elementary have every opportunity to be successful in all aspects of their educational journey.
Sorrento Elementary School is a great place to be, and we are committed to continually finding ways to ensure our students are supported and can flourish academically, socially, and emotionally.
