Welcome to Sorrento Elementary school for the 2026-2027 school year! We are located on the west end of the beautiful Shuswap Lake on the traditional and unceded lands of the Secwepemc People. Sorrento, along our catchment area of Blind Bay and Eagle Bay, is a growing community and our school is reflecting that growth. Sorrento Elementary now has 12 Divisions with approximately 260 students in Grades K-6.
I am please to be joining the Sorrento Elementary Stars as the incoming principal. In particular, as a resident of Blind Bay, it is truly exciting to invest in my own community. I have been a principal at SD83 for 7 years, having moved to the area from Moose Jaw, SK in 2019 where I was a principal for 8 years. My husband Brian, our dog Scout and our three adult children (who are literally spread across the country) have loved making this area our home. I look forward to getting to know the parents and students in our community! Please know I have an open door policy- I believe in being partners in your child's education, and I'd love to connect with you whenever we can.
Sorrento Elementary has a strong, dedicated, and professional staff of teachers and educational assistants who will continue to "reach for the stars" when it comes to the education of your children. We also have a vibrant Parent Advisory Council and deep connections to our community partners. We are all dedicated to supporting the students in all aspects of their journey.
This is an exciting year at Sorrento as we add our Grade 6 students to our roster. What a treat to continue the journey for these students, and we look forward to creating new leadership and learning paths for them this year.
Drop by to visit. We look forward to the upcoming year at Sorrento Elementary!
